Living alone comports with modern values. It promotes freedom, personal control and self-realization — all prized aspects of contemporary life.
A few nights ago at 2:45AM, a man tried to break into my apartment. My worst nightmare and the young single gal’ version of “Help! I’ve Fallen and I Can’t Get Up!®” All those years of watching Law&Order finally paid off. I screamed, called 911, made the dispatcher stay with me on the line until the police showed up, wouldn’t let the police in my apartment until they identified themselves and the dispatcher confirmed it was in fact them.
I’m OK, a little shaken and jumpy but totes OK. I have wonderful friends and neighbors. I love living alone.
